While on vacation in Costa Rica in June of 1999 I took a resort scuba diving course. I was instantly hooked! I returned to Dallas and immediately signed up for a PADI Open Water class. I became a certified open water diver in July on 1999. Having a grand total of 6 dives under my belt (2 resort in Costa Rica and 4 open water check out dives) I couldn't wait to get back in the water. So... I signed up for a PADI Advanced Open Water Class; I became a certified advanced diver in August of 1999. Wanting more (see where I'm going with this) I became a certified Rescue diver in October 1999. I then started my PADI Divemaster program. While working on Divemaster, I completed 5 specialty courses and obtained my PADI Master Scuba Diver rating (the highest PADI rating for a non professional diver). I completed my Divemaster certification in October 2000. After working as a Divemaster for 8 years I finally took the next step and became an open water Scuba Instructor.
